Most Poorly Written JW Book
by JW_Rogue inso i was thinking the other day that the wt corp has produced thousands of books over the years.
although the writers have changed the style is almost always the same.
however, some books are just worse than others.

The "Imitate their Faith" book - by a country mile!
"My Book of Bible Stories" is an articulate and intellectual Bible-teaching aid, compared to the "Imitate" book - as clearly proven by the mindless answers offered for the hypothetical questions, such as -
Noah and his wife faced what challenges in raising their children?
What aspect of Noah’s work may have been more challenging than ark-building.
How might Noah and his family have been occupied during the final week before the Deluge?
From whom might Abram have learned about Jehovah, and why may we conclude that this is a possibility?
(a) What preparations and decisions needed to be made prior to leaving Ur? (b) How might we picture the morning of departure?
What was the journey from Ur to Haran like, and why might Abram have decided to settle in Haran for a time?
Why might Naomi have been concerned when her sons married Moabite women?
What may have drawn Ruth to Jehovah?
What was a threshing floor, and how was it used?
Describe the scene at the threshing floor as Boaz finished working for the evening.
What may have been the meaning behind the gift that Boaz bestowed on Ruth?

Swearing on the bible
by Lost and adrift inon the subject of truth.
..... i was always under the impression that one of the reasons jws couldn't do jury duty or go to court etc was that we were not allowed to swear on the bible.
..as in i swear to tell the truth the whole truth etc etc .

I personally knew a sister who was jailed for refusing to serve on a jury - because she could not swear on the Bible as demanded. There was no alternative offered back then.
Rather than pay a fine, she went to jail. An unknown benefactor paid her fine and she was released after 2-3 days. J.W's assumed it was the richest J.W. family in Scotland at the time who paid the fine. They quietly helped many impoverished J.W.'s when they were in business.

Witnesses killed my friend today.
by WasOnceBlind intoday has been a horrible day.
what began as a day of joy finding out that one of my lifelong friends had her baby, turned into a nightmare when her brother called me to let me know she had passed away after birth.
i was in shock and didn't ask how.

Welcome Grey Goose. You are in a great situation to fade - no wife or kids.
Your apparently biggest step is going to be stepping down as a Ministerial Servant - but it's not difficult at all! Eventually, the lies you have to tell in your "teaching assignments" will chew up your conscience so badly, that telling the CoBE you're quitting as an M.S. will be easy.
Been there, done it - I just told the two elders that my reasons were private & personal, and refused to say more! Seriously bugged them. :)
You now have to follow your own route. Best wishes.

It's apparently the Corporation's way of weaning the publishers away from taking pride in the amount of printed literature they place each month, to getting them to feel that they're achieving the same objective (preaching the good news????) by getting strangers to look at clips of Corporate videos & animations on an iPad.
All part of the master plan to drastically cut or eliminate the costs of printing, in exchange for "digital teachings."

How do I handle this situation?
by BarelyThere inhey everyone.
i'm sorry that this isn't a very thought provoking post but i could really use some advice on how to handle this.
there isn't anyone else in my life i can ask right now because, being dfed, all of my friends are "worldly" and don't know how witnesses function.

Move congregations immediately, and don't reveal anything to any J.W.'s.
If you stay and/or say the wrong thing, you'll be in the wilderness for a long, long time.
The wolves will have you for breakfast.

A Fitting Song For The Corporation
by The Searcher inpowerful cover version of a timeless classic!
"hello darkness, my old friend, i've come to talk with you again, because a vision softly creeping, left its seeds while i was sleeping, and the vision that was planted in my brain still remains, within the sound of silence.in restless dreams i walked alone narrow streets of cobblestone, 'neath the halo of a street lamp, i turned my collar to the cold and damp, when my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light that split the night, and touched the sound of silence.and in the naked light i saw, ten thousand people, maybe more.
people talking without speaking, people hearing without listening, people writing songs that voices never share and no one dared, disturb the sound of silence.

"Hello darkness, my old friend, I've come to talk with you again, Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping, And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains, Within the sound of silence.
In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone, 'Neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp, When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night,
And touched the sound of silence.
And in the naked light I saw, Ten thousand people, maybe more. People talking without speaking, People hearing without listening, People writing songs that voices never share And no one dared, Disturb the sound of silence.
"Fools," said I, "You do not know. Silence like a cancer grows. Hear my words that I might teach you. Take my arms that I might reach you." But my words like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed, To the neon god they made. [JW.0RG] And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming. And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls And tenement halls, And whispered in the sounds of silence." -

Would a loving creator give humans the gift of free will?
by Heisenberg inthey say ignorance is bliss... well, i wish that god did not give adam free will.
i am ok to not have free will if it means i will live forever in perfect paradisiac conditions.it has been explained that free will is a gift from god.
they say 'who would want to live life like a robot?

We have "free will" to obey our governments laws - or not - and they are generally for everyone's benefit.
Doing otherwise (in many situations) causes pain, suffering, or death to fellow citizens - such as driving while drunk or using firearms against innocent people. People select for themselves which laws they will abide by, and which ones they will flaunt. How would our cities look if no one deliberately broke laws?
The scriptural "law of the Christ" for Christians doesn't strike me as being restrictive or depriving me of anything. It's just a pity that more people don't do to others what they'd like done to them.
“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the LORD. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people." (Jeremiah 31:33 - NIV)
An earth filled with law-abiding people wouldn't be a bad thing, would it?
How we exercise our free will defines exactly who we are, and silently testifies to our love and respect for others.

Brooklyn news on sending the elderly packing
by I am a Bible Student injohnny the bethelite on this program talks about the older bethelites being targeted by watchtower.they are getting rid of those at bethel who are 65-87 years old, some being anointed even the widows of former governing body members who gave decades of loyal service time to the watchtower organization.. the reasons the very elderly are being expelled are money in that for their age range they cost so much to cloth, fed, and medicate, having problems from high blood pressure to dementia.
they include persons such as sister henschel whose husband had been a watchtower president and marian sydlik whose parents are long dead.. https://soundcloud.com/rick-fearon/jan-16-2016-johnny-the-bethelite-watchtower-insider-host-his-radio-program-from-brooklyn-ny .

Definitely requires verifiable proof before any of us can repeat such atrocities to our still-in family etc.
Otherwise, it will only serve to reinforce their opinions of "apostates on the web."
